On Route 323 at the edge of the Laurentians, about half an hour from Mont-Tremblant one way and Montebello the other. A little over 400 people live here year-round, and roughly 1,000 more show up with the warm weather. The post office was called Lac-Rond in 1886, then Des Ormeaux, before becoming Lac-des-Plages in 1933. The municipality itself dates from 1950.
The economy is the lake and everything around it. Campgrounds, cottage rentals, the village store, and the contractors who dig, pump, lay stone and renovate for owners who mostly live in Montreal or Ottawa. In winter, a 10 km forest road on public land is open to ATVs and snowmobiles, and the Maskinongé park trails switch to cross-country skiing and fat biking.
What makes Lac-des-Plages
The lake and its beaches
It gave the municipality its name, and it’s still what fills the cottages every summer.
Parc récréatif de la Maskinongé
Close to 20 km of trails off rue de l’Église for hiking, mountain biking, fat biking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Open year-round.
The pirate ship
The municipal park has a pirate ship for kids, the only one in the area, plus a pump track behind town hall.
130 acres on the Maskinongé
In 2020 the municipality bought about 130 acres to build trails and a paddlers’ stop along the Maskinongé River.
Deer, moose and herons
The MRC lists them among what you’ll run into here. Watch the road, especially at dusk.

Getting found in Lac-des-Plages
Two groups search at the same time here. Vacationers, typing “cottage rental beach Outaouais” or “lake camping near Tremblant” from home, often in English. And cottage owners, looking for a plumber, a pump guy or a mason from Montreal in November because something froze. Most small businesses here live on Airbnb, on Facebook or on a half-filled Google profile. What we’d do: a complete Google profile that lists the area you serve, a bilingual page with photos of real jobs or the real cottage, and an easy way to book or ask for a quote.
Lac-des-Plages has a population of 553 (2026), according to the Quebec government's population order.
Petite Nation Numérique is not affiliated with the municipality or the MRC; this information comes from public sources.

DetailsFrequently asked questions
My customers are cottage owners who aren’t here. How do they find me?
Through Google, from a distance. Your profile has to say clearly that you serve Lac-des-Plages and the area, with photos and reviews. A services page in French and English does the rest.
My cottage is already on six booking sites. Isn’t a website just one more thing to manage?
Not if it’s set up right. The site is mainly for returning guests, so they can book direct without platform fees. We can hook it to a calendar you already use.
Do you come to Lac-des-Plages?
Yes. We are based in Montpellier and meet clients in person anywhere in the MRC de Papineau, including Lac-des-Plages. We can also work entirely online.
My business is small. Is an online presence worth the investment?
Yes, particularly in a rural region. A complete Google profile and a simple site are often enough to stand out from competitors who aren't online. We start with what pays off most for your budget.
