Every spring, thousands of Canada geese drop into the bays at Plaisance. People follow with binoculars, and then they look for lunch.

Plaisance sits on Route 148 by the Ottawa River, about 70 km from Gatineau. The parish was founded in 1900 with a very long name and became plain Plaisance in 1931. Older still is North Nation Mills, the sawmill village Joseph Papineau had built in the early 1800s near the falls on the Petite-Nation River.

This is a village that lives off its water. The national park, the falls, the Ottawa River all along the shore. Visitors come mostly from spring to fall. The rest of the year it's a farm village with a dépanneur, a farm equipment dealer and a folk art museum unlike anything else in the region.

Getting found in Plaisance

In Plaisance the season starts with the geese and ends with the fall colours. Visitors search for the national park or the falls, land on Sépaq, then wonder where to eat, where to get ice or gas, what else to do. That's where village businesses either show up or don't. Right now even the municipality's business page is under renovation, so a complete Google profile and a small bilingual site go a long way. We'd add seasonal hours, photos taken on site and a line saying how close you are to the park. We're based in Montpellier, same MRC.

Plaisance is known for Parc national de Plaisance on the shores of the Ottawa River, which draws visitors from across the region. Lodging, restaurants, producers and shops nearby can better capture that traffic with a bilingual online presence.

Plaisance has a population of 1,205 (2026), according to the Quebec government's population order.

Petite Nation Numérique is not affiliated with the municipality or the MRC; this information comes from public sources.

Frequently asked questions

How do park visitors find me?

On Google Maps, as they leave the park or plan their day. With a complete profile and accurate hours, you show up when they search for food or gas nearby.

I close for the winter. Do I still need a site?

Yes, with your reopening date on it. People plan spring trips in March, and a site that says we reopen in May beats silence.

Do you come to Plaisance?

Yes. We are based in Montpellier and meet clients in person anywhere in the MRC de Papineau, including Plaisance. We can also work entirely online.

My business is small. Is an online presence worth the investment?

Yes, particularly in a rural region. A complete Google profile and a simple site are often enough to stand out from competitors who aren't online. We start with what pays off most for your budget.

Your business deserves to be found.
