The 75th meridian runs through Papineauville. It sets the time for all of Eastern Standard, and the town built a sundial park on it.

Halfway between Montreal and Gatineau on Route 148, Papineauville carries the Papineau name for good reason. Joseph Papineau bought the Petite-Nation seigneury in the early 1800s, his son Denis-Benjamin ran the settlement from 1808, and Louis-Joseph inherited it. The village's first mayor, in 1896, was Henri Bourassa, his grandson. The Montfort Fathers came in 1908 and started the school that is now the local high school.

Today it's the seat of the MRC de Papineau, with the regional offices on rue Viger and a main drag, rue Papineau, for groceries, lunch and a pint. Around it, it's farm country: goats, vines, flowers, maple. Route 148 brings the through traffic, and the Ottawa River brings boaters to the wharf.

Getting found in Papineauville

Plenty of people pass through Papineauville without stopping. The driver on the 148 searching for breakfast near me, the boater at the wharf looking for dinner, the Ottawa family planning a Saturday at the cheese farm or the vineyard. In March, it's sugar shacks. A lot of local businesses have a Google profile with the same hours all year, or a site with no English version even though so many visitors come from Ottawa. We'd start there: seasonal hours that are right, real photos, a clear page in both languages. We're in Montpellier, same MRC, and we work across Petite-Nation.

The seat of the MRC de Papineau, Papineauville hosts several regional services and the Chambre de commerce Vallée de la Petite-Nation. Its shops and service businesses benefit from Route 148 traffic and customers from across southern Petite-Nation.

Papineauville has a population of 2,359 (2026), according to the Quebec government's population order.

Petite Nation Numérique is not affiliated with the municipality or the MRC; this information comes from public sources.

Frequently asked questions

I'm on Route 148. How do I catch people driving by?

They search on their phone at the next stop. A complete Google profile with the right category, exact hours and photos of your storefront is what gets them to turn in.

I'm a seasonal producer. Why have a site all year?

People plan day trips weeks ahead, often in winter. A site that says when you open, what to buy and how to get there keeps working while the farm is closed.

Do you come to Papineauville?

Yes. We are based in Montpellier and meet clients in person anywhere in the MRC de Papineau, including Papineauville. We can also work entirely online.

My business is small. Is an online presence worth the investment?

Yes, particularly in a rural region. A complete Google profile and a simple site are often enough to stand out from competitors who aren't online. We start with what pays off most for your budget.

Your business deserves to be found.

Tell us about your project. We answer in English or French, and we travel anywhere in the MRC de Papineau.
