Like most businessperson, I have a few advisors and mentors. I strongly believe these role models are a crucial part of my personal and professional development.
I have been extremely lucky in my life, I tend to meet solid people who can look beyond the raw, blunt, direct person that I am, and help me focus on my strengths, to unleash my full potential.
Over the past few months, I've been working on business process. Refining all of the various process at the studio. Structure is important, it defines us as a company and helps us to execute our work and deal with clients, sales, and support. Without any solid process in place, I fear our company would be just like any other studio out there. Process are what define us, helping us stand out of the crowd.
Back in the summer, I met Hal Josephson when I was at Interactive Screen in Banff, AB. I recall my first impression of Hal, thinking that is it! This guy gets it. It wasn't long after that Hal and I started speaking on a regular basis on Skype.
Since then, I have had many conversations and had the opportunity to see him again in December when we produced Blogs n Dogs.
Over the next month, RCS will be redeveloping the website for China Access 2008, an economic sustainability project around the Beijin Olympics of 2008.
Going to China
As part of our duties for this project, Will and I are to travel to China (Shanghai and Beijing) in April to meet with various people working on the '08 Olympics, building international business relations and provide coverage on the various event.
Needless to say, I am super excited about the prospect of going to China and will have to take some personal time off when I am there.
Torino next month?
I've also been working with Hal, Kris Krug and a few other folks to get us in Torino for the 2006 Winter Olympics, so far it looks very promising and I expect more news on this soon..
