An array of so-called smart watches are hitting the shelves for the holiday season this year. Many a tech user has jotted this uber-toy down on their wishlist. This tech user is a little dubious.

The MSNDirect smart watches deliver live (proprietary) content feeds over FM frequencies. Coverage is already in place for Lower Mainland residents.

None of the content categories or channels, ranging from weather forecasts to live stock quotes, have entirely captivated me. There are free and subscriber ($39.95 US/annum) channels. I don't see a killer app among them, yet.

The "Dick Tracy" comparison is being leveraged to draw in the MAD crowd. They've even licensed a wallpaper of the seminal comic character for the watch.

I'm reserving a final judgement until I get to test drive a unit.

If you're already sold, here's the link that piqued my interest. If this price is for real, I may snag one up sooner than later.
