About a month ago, I put up a post about the Japanese Nintendo DS microsite, My First Touch. Now the touching craze has hit the New World.
Do I Need to Make a Funny Headline for This?
The American site, TouchingIsGood.com, puts the challenge out to the public: Do something funny or interesting with this white mannequin hand. Do something particularly noteworthy and win cash and prizes. Sorry, contest only open to American residents. Boo!
And just what do you do if you don't have several mannequin appendages handy (not unlike a bad 80s comedy I'd like to forget)? I'm glad you asked. Download your own PDF of a mannequin hand here.
If you want full points though, you will need to purchase a tournament quality hand from this macabre site. Wont be bookmarking that site.
Big Business Will Buy Anything With “Blog” Attached
NOA is apeing the media-blogger thing for real. Content at the site is available in video and still pics, very much along the lines of ourmedia.org or flickr.
The videos range from semi-professional production quality to lo-fi goodness. The one called "bball" is kind of funny, but not much else. What cheeses me off is the inability to “Send to a Friend”. What kind of viral-marketing campaign forgets to implement that!?
The nod to Media Blogging is both encouraging and sad. The ad agency that put together the campaign obviously knows about the two services mentioned above, but has chosen to put out a watered-down, closed version anyway.
They farmed out their cell phone camera photoblog or Moblog, to TextAmerica. The TIG Moblog page features a Flickr Zeitgeist-like feature that might well have been ripped right from said technology.
I can understand Nintendo and Ad Agency's desire to keep things proprietary, but it goes right against the CC/"Sharing is Caring" mentality they're trying to tap in to. Might just be me who's worked up about this.
