So, as Roland and James have mentioned, last week was hectic but also energizing and fun.
- We definitely missed Adrian. That, and copyright sucks – the antique photo place that lets you get your picture taken in mountie costumes was going to have to sign a waiver so we could post it. So I got mad and didn't want to do it. Dries will hopefully post the picture of me and the CivicSpace guys with the bear in a mountie costume at the Capilano Suspension Bridge.
- We could have spent even more time discussing the many things we did, focusing on themes, events, syndication, and the concept of groups within a single Drupal instance as well as across sites.
- I didn't get nearly enough time to talk to everyone at dinner -- even though my throat is sore from all the talking I did. I think this points to a good opportunity for a real DrupalCon some time soon. Or maybe more regular get-togethers on a regional basis (since it's hard to fly out to Belgium every time...although the frites and Leffe might make it worth it).
- James needs to move to BC so all the Bryght guys are together (and because his kids are really cute). Also, he secretly talks the business talk as well as or better than I do. Me, Zack, and James could probably convince anyone that anything could be built with Drupal...and then we'd get Neil to code it :P
- CivicSpace is an awesome project, and I think we can work together with them and support each other as well as the larger Drupal community. One of things we're going to try and do is combine our code/feature plans together a little more tightly, so we can get work done twice as fast.
- Everyone loves t-shirts, even if I had to hack Druplicon (sorry, Steven!) and our logo (sorry, Matthew!) because of the number of colours (I'll see about making the graphics available for printing your own shirts wherever you are).
- More donations/funding/promotion needs to flow directly into the Drupal.org project/Dries himself. Drupal-world-domination.com goal #1 - get Dries a Powerbook!
- Andy Georges is having a kid. His/her first and favourite toy is going to be an "Elchen" (a moose toy animal).
- Yes, Dries is tall, but it's an illusion: it's mainly the hair and the giant fancy camera. We probably spent entirely too much time talking about beer, but that just makes it more likely that I will want to go to Brugge.
I enjoyed talking to everyone, and hope to translate that into some further work together. And Eric, I definitely still owe you a beer – especially as I start filing issues.
