Tod Maffin of the CBC and ILoveRadio.org gave us a quick overview of the hot subject of podcasting.

It was a pleasure to see him in action.

He was certainly comfortable talking about this topic.

A quick survey of the audience revealed a handful of people who didn't know about podcasting, a larger group of active audio-bloggers, with the majority of the audience wanting to know more.

Mr Maffin covered technical and hardware requirements for both Mac and PC, legal/licencing issues, and gaining audience, stressing the biggest problem: bandwidth.

From Adam Curry, one of the first podcasters, to personal pointers on how to create effective shows, his expertise was evident.

"The most interesting people are the ones that let you into their personality and life"

Here's Mr. Maffin top advice:

  • Talk about what keep you motivated and interested
  • Be brief - 8 to 10 minute show
  • Mike's manic minute - removes all dead air, even between word
  • Try not to ramble
  • Mix it up a bit
