Day 3 kicked off with Woody Woodman, the Co-Founder and Head of Story Ravenwood Entertainment. He is an experienced storyboard artist and clean-up animator for Walt Disney Feature Animation. He has worked on several feature animated films such as “Emperor’s New Groove,” “Tarzan,” and “Mulan.”

He presented to us his latest cartoon idea: Tugger the little jeep that wanted to fly!

Through a series of slides, Woody narrated the story and introduced us to his characters. He showed the various stage of development done from storyboarding to the final product.

After a complete introduction and overview of the storyboard process, we did a group exercise building a story from a series of basic drawings he provided us.

Each team then had to present their version of the story to the rest of the attendees.

Of all the workshops and presentations I have attended over the past 3 days, this was the one I enjoyed the most; Woody is an excellent narrator and story teller! It was a pleasure to see the development process and get insights on his upcoming project.

For those of you located in Alberta, Woody Woodman will be speaking at two Storyboard Seminars for Producers and Artists held in both Edmonton (26th Sept.) and Calgary (27th Sept.) follow the link for further information

I would recommend attending this event presented by the Digital Media Association of Alberta and the BNMI...
