The Second Life Opportunity
Second Life is a 3D, online, digital world in which you can create, experience and become almost anything you can imagine. Residents are building everything from skyscrapers and medieval castles to games, vehicles of all kinds, clothing lines and nightclubs, all this in a richly-immersive, 3D landscape that grows daily.
Designers, entrepreneurs and developers will discover an amazing environment with real business opportunities. Each month, Second Life users currently buy and sell goods and services valued at over $1 Million US.
Second Life has a vibrant community where content creators and consumers reinforce one another, says Pierre Omidyar, founder of eBay. Better experiences attract more users, which further attracts entrepreneurial developers to enrich the experience. Opportunities abound and value is determined by the community.
Your World. Your Imagination
The possibilities are limitless; there is a million ways to make money or enjoy yourself, the only limits are the one set by our own limitations... Coders, builders, artists and developers can all find an avenue to expend their expertise, share their skills and become an integral part of the community
A Tour of Linden Lab's Virtual World
San Francisco-based Linden Lab, developers of Second Life (or SL as we call it in game) is headed by CEO Phillip Rosedale.
In this 5 minutes video released June 21, 2004, Phillip explains how users are turning their online alter-egos into money-making businesses.
Addicted to SL
Earlier this year, I was introduced to Second Life while reading a review on Apple's website.
I signed up and immediately became addicted; in a matter of a few weeks, I had read everything I could get my hand on. I attended in-world workshops, classes on SL finance and land ownership. I interacted with other people from all around the world. Like most people in SL, I joined groups who shared similar interests and developed new online friendships.
I build a few businesses; I co-owned a dance club for a while where we had live DJs and Dancers. We hosted events twice a day with an average attendance of over 40 players. At the height of things, we had over 20 employees.
Now, I keep things quiet, I own land, a house and a few shops with my SL partner Jill. Due to my chool and work schedule, I had to re-address my SL time commitment.
Remember, it's all about balance! Worst case scenario, there is always SL Anonymous, an online support group for the addicts trying to cut down their playing time.
Free 7 day trial period

A Virtual Studio for a Real world Company
Mark and I have been working on a plan to have our office/studio located in SL. Linden's world allows us to have our dream office at a fraction of the costs. We are looking at opening our doors at the end of Q1 2005.
